HPV Catch up campaign
We are currently providing HPV (Human PapillomaVirus) vaccines for those individuals who may previously have missed out. This vaccine provides individuals with valuable protection against HPV which is linked to over 90% of all cervical cancers in England and can be prevented with one dose of the HPV vaccination and regular cervical screening. HPV vaccination can also protect men and women against other cancers such as head and neck (mouth and throat) and penile cancers.
HPV is a virus that is very common, anyone can get it in their lifetime. It is usually cleared by the body, but in some cases it can lead to cancer. The HPV virus has a number of low and high-risk strains and it is these high-risk strains that can lead to cancer and the HPV vaccine protects against 9 of the most high-risk strains, including cervical cancer
Any unvaccinated individuals aged 16-24 can contact the practice to receive their HPV vaccine to provide you with protection against HPV.
